Nevada Learners Permit

Nevada Learners permit

After completing the Nevada Learner's Permit course, students ages 15½ and older are eligible to take the DMV written test. The DMV requires that a parent or guardian accepts financial responsibility for the teen by signing an agreement statement. When you go to the DMV to take your written exam, you must present Proof of Identity (Name and Date of Birth) and the applicant's Social Security Number (if a number has been assigned to you). This is typically a certified, U.S.-issued Birth Certificate and a Social Security Card.

When teens obtain their Nevada Learners Permit, they may operate a motor vehicle with a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old. The passenger must have at least one year of driving experience and must be seated next to the new driver at all times. The student must accumulate a total of 50 hours (10 of which must be at night) of behind-the-wheel experience before applying for a driver's license. If there isn't a Nevada Driving Permit course offered within a 30 mile radius of your school then you must complete 50 additional hours of supervised training.

You must pass the vision and written tests. The minimum level of acceptable vision is 20/40 in one eye. The written test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions based on the Nevada Drivers Handbook. You need to get at least 80% of the questions right in order to pass. The application fee is $21.25. Note: Many DMV offices do not accept credit cards. Make sure to bring cash, a check, or an ATM/Debit card.
